新一階段的漫威英雄片盛傳會比上一個階段更注重非傳統白人男性的英雄，譬如女性或是跨性別族群、非白人等，有機會大出風頭，因此外界始終有傳聞指漫威早先標榜奧斯卡影后布麗拉森扮演的「驚奇隊長」是能力最強的英雄，就是在為捧她成為新階段當家要角預先炒聲勢。布麗固然演技不俗，為了把角色詮釋得有說服力，展開魔鬼操練、體格不輸壯漢，然而她身為女性主義者，一堆替女性發聲的言論觸怒不少男性漫威粉絲，不停有人連署請漫威把她換掉，在此情況下，由她接棒最主打的要角，似乎並不是很適合。
